Greg Smith has served as the Executive Director of the Florida Literacy Coalition since 2002. Prior to joining the Coalition, Greg served for 13 years as Executive Director of the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, Virginia’s oldest and largest community based literacy organization. He holds a Master’s Degree in Adult and Continuing Education from Virginia Tech and currently serves on the Adult Education Cabinet of the Florida Department of Education, ProLiteracy America’s Public Policy Committee and as Chair of the Council of State Organizations. Greg, his wife and two children live in Casselberry Florida. |
Erin Balleine • Resource Specialist

Erin Balleine is the Statewide VISTA Supervisor and Resource Specialist for the Florida Literacy Coalition. She holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology from Boston College. Prior to joining FLC, Erin worked on Capitol Hill influencing legislation and policy about third world debt relief and AIDS in Africa. Following her time in DC she opened the Miami branch of National Farm Worker Ministry (NFWM) and founded the National Youth and Young Adult Network of NFWM.

Raychel George is an Americorps/VISTA Marketing Coordinator for the Florida Literacy Coalition. She received her bachelor’s degree in Integrative Public Relations from Central Michigan University. Prior to joining the FLC team, Raychel worked for a marketing agency and has a background in public relations and special events for nonprofit organizations including The First Tee. A native of Detroit, Raychel has an interests including automobiles , reading and traveling. |

Bryan McCormack is an Americorps/VISTA Project Coordinator. He was born in Nyack, New York. He graduated from Eckerd College with a degree in Literature in 2009. At Eckerd College, Bryan worked at the Armacost Library and worked on the college’s literary magazine. He has traveled to Ireland, England and France and hopes to travel to France again for a language immersion in the near future. His hobbies include reading, listening to music, and playing guitar. Bryan's three favorite books are James Joyce's Ulysses, Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow, and Rainer Maria Rilke's Duino Elegies. |
Pamela Logsdon • Bookkeeper

Pamela Logsdon joined the Florida Literacy Coalition as Bookkeeper in April of 2007. Prior to her position here, Pamela worked in the private sector as VP of Finance and Operations for 12 years at a leading marketing firm, Barclay Communication, in Phoenix, Arizona, her hometown. Pamela relocated to Orlando to take a position as VP of Finance and Operations of VBNET, the Orange County Convention Center’s first Internet Service Provider, and a sister company, Convention Center Net, which provided advertising opportunities to trade shows and their exhibitors. Pamela’s desire to work in the Not For Profit arena brought her to Florida Literacy. Pamela had worked for a NFP radio station, KNAU on the Northern Arizona University campus which gave her the needed experience to understand the reporting and documentation requirements of grant funding and donation based revenues. |
Yari Payne • Education and Training Coordinator

Yari Payne is the Education and Training Coordinator for the Florida Literacy Coalition, and is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with 8 plus years experience in meeting management. Her background includes educational meeting and conference planning from her time as the Education Program Manager for the Association of Clinical Research Professionals in DC. Most recently she worked locally with Dynetech within the event planning department, MyMediaWorks, as a Seminar Coordinator negotiating for meeting space. When she’s not at work, you can find her spending time with her family and dogs. |

Quizaira Recio is the Referral Specialist for the Florida Literacy Coalition. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in
Multi-Cultural Humanities and hopes to further her education with the goal of pursuing a fulfilling career in the Non-profit sector. As a first generation high school and college graduate, she is dedicated to literacy issues. As a first generation American she is especially committed to native language literacy. |
David Wagner • Conference Assistant Coordinator

David Wagner is the Conference Assistant Coordinator. He is currently a student at the University of Central Florida where he studies Hospitality/Event Management at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. David is an active member of the Professional Convention Management Association on the collegiate, regional and national level. He is serving as Vice-President of the 2009-10 PCMA at UCF Executive Board, also on the 2010 Communications Committee for the Southeast Chapter of PCMA, and is a 2010 National Student Task Force Member. David likes to stay up to date on current events and enjoys attending the many theme parks in the Orlando area. He is excited and can’t wait to see his favorite childhood book become a reality with the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Spring 2010 at the Universal Orlando Resort. |
Naomi Soto • Health Literacy Coordinator

Naomi Soto serves as the Health Literacy Coordinator for the Florida Literacy Coalition. She has a BA from George Washington University and a strong interest and background in health education. Her experience includes working for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and interning at the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health in Washington D.C. She has also been a regular volunteer at the Hispanic Health Initiative since she relocated back to Central Florida. |
